Laurie Lassiter has a private practice in Bowen family systems therapy and writes and presents as an independent scholar.

“Murray Bowen’s broad understanding of the human family and other social groups in the context of evolution and individual variation in development offers a panoply of areas for exploration.”

Research interests related to Bowen theory include:
-the unequal distribution of stress in families and other social systems;
-the social life of early microorganisms and identifying common mechanisms in diverse forms of life;
-the effects of social stress on genetic expression;
-the emotional side of socioeconomic status

She is editing a book of audio collections that individuals made of their sessions with Dr. Bowen.

“I believe that the coaching Bowen provided contributes to understanding his theory as he put it into practice. Some of the sessions illuminate and raise further questions about his concepts of the triangle and differentiation of self, as well as their relationship to one another. The transcripts reveal Bowen’s engaging way of communicating and working with people, which created a unique atmosphere of learning.”
